  • 1.  How do you decompress?

With fall being one of the busiest times for me as an athletic trainer, what are some hobbies or tools you use to help you decompress after a long and rough week? I love to read or do crafts. Sometimes, I love just watching a movie or even professional sports. What do you all do?

Cooking a nice meal on the weekends that I can actually eat right when I've cooked it instead of just heating up in a to-go container, going for a walk with a podcast, and reading are my favorites! I have a long commute right now and have been loving phone calls to friends and family members to help pass the time but find it's been a helpful outlet after a long or busy day too.

I try to prioritize spending time with my wife whether that be going to the gym together or watching a mindless tv show on the couch with our pets. During my commute, I try to call family members to talk about something other than work or gain an outside perspective of a work situation from someone who does not see the situation through an athletic training lens.

Following what seems to be some common themes, I love to read (though that's not always the best for my sleep...) or call a family member/friend on my way home from work. Also, if the weather is nice, I try to get out and go on a walk!
