The NATA Executive Council for Education (ECE) is looking for two (2) council members to begin at the NATA Convention in June of 2025. The ECE oversees matters related to AT education. The group facilitates quality professional and post-professional education, coordinates the delivery of educational programming for the profession and maintains a dialogue with its CAATE and BOC liaisons on accreditation and certification matters affecting AT education. The ECE informs and assists the profession in setting the direction for athletic training education. Emphasizing a commitment to improving patient care through an evidence-based approach, the ECE proactively influences best educational practices that reflect athletic training’s interprofessional nature and commitment to learning.

The council’s new structure involves 12 members and a chair stewarding the educational efforts, in conjunction with the Knowledge Initiatives staff, in the areas of member resources, educational research, meeting programming, and engagement.

Specific expectations include:

  • attend annual meetings throughout the term, including in-person meetings at Committee Day participate in scheduled council meetings, anticipated to be monthly

Those members with strong backgrounds in project management, educational research, meeting planning, and member engagement are encouraged to apply. Please identify in your letter of interest which of the four content areas best align with your interest and qualifications. Candidates must be in possession of an NPI number and a member in good standing with the NATA.

Expectations of all council members:

  1. Communicate with the chair, including promptly informing the chair of any scheduling conflicts or contact information changes.
  2. Contribute to discussions at scheduled meetings, having read the agenda and all background support materials relevant to the meeting. Display courteous conduct at all meetings.
  3. Openly debate issues with respect and rapport, without making personal attacks.
  4. Promote what is best for the entire council and for the profession, not a personal agenda.
  5. Complete all assignments within time frames established by the council chair.
  6. Serve as project or workgroup leader if assigned by the chair.
  7. Participate in the annual Volunteer Experience survey.
  8. Represent the NATA and the council in a positive and supportive manner at all times.
  9. Support in a positive manner all actions taken by the council, even when the member disagrees with such actions.
  10. Uphold the NATA Code of Ethics and Policies and Procedures as they pertain to the council.

Conflict of Interest

Council members avoid conflicts of interest between the position as an NATA volunteer and the member's personal and professional life. When necessary, members declare a conflict of interest and abstain from both the discussion and voting of any matter in which the member has a personal or business interest. (A conflict of interest is defined as any social, professional or economic relationship with individuals or the matter at hand that could affect one's judgment and result in an outcome that might not reflect the best interests of the NATA and/or the council.)

Intellectual Property

Work and materials developed, created or written—as a council, committee, work group, or board member, or in any other volunteer capacity for NATA—shall be deemed work-for-hire under copyright, intellectual property, and other laws. NATA is granted sole and exclusive ownership of all such work. Council members waive all claims and/or so-called “moral rights” to the work, and assign these rights to NATA.

Confidentiality

In connection with your participation, you will be required to agree to a confidentiality agreement as part of your service to the Association.
